Independence man shot in leg after assailants force way into home

INDEPENDENCE — An Independence man was shot in the leg after two to three persons forced their way into his home and assaulted the man Monday morning, Independence police said.

Police chief Harry Smith said Anthony Ray Trollope, age 36, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg after two to three subjects forced their way into the home at 716 N. 16th shortly before 8 a.m. The assailants fled the scene, however one suspect has been identified and police are attempting to locate the suspect(s), Smith said.

 

The subjects drove away in a red or maroon Pontiac Vibe.

 

Trollope was transported to Mercy Hospital for medical treatment.

 

The investigation into this shooting continues, Smith said.
