Military to be saluted at Cherryvale football game

“A Salute to the Military” will be the theme for Friday night’s home opener for the Cherryvale High School varsity football team.

Cherryvale will host Commerce, Okla., in a 7 p.m., contest at Logan Park Stadium, where all military personnel and veterans (with military identification card) will be admitted free.

Members of the 891st Engineering Battalion Color Guard will present the U.S. flag prior to the game, and students from Lincoln-Central Elementary School will lead the crowd in a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

The 891st Engineering Battalion will also have a military Hummer vehicle on display at the stadium.

The Charger Football Booster Club designated the night in honor of the military personnel and veterans. And, the club also took the additional step by buying special jerseys for the Cherryvale Chargers. All Charger players will be adorned in camouflage-style jerseys as a salute to the military.
