Five Coffeyville people were arrested Monday, Aug. 6, following an attempted burglary of the C&K Liquor at 1418 S. Walnut shortly after midnight.
Police chief Tony Celeste named the arrested individuals in a press release. They include Malachi D. Porter, age 19; Emmanuel J. Henderson, age 27; Tyson Holloway, age 24; and Davon N. Craig, age 14, all of Coffeyville. Each will face burglary charges. Also arrested was Billie J. Vernon, age 23, of Coffeyville on a charge of obstructing apprehension related to the burglary.
Celeste said the investigation began at about 12:25 a.m., Monday morning when police were notified of the liquor store robbery. Officers quickly responded to the area and soon located the suspects as they fled into a residence located at 1420 S. Elm. After a brief standoff, the suspects surrendered to officers without further incident.
An investigation continues into the matter, Celeste said.
