his home.

 

Cremation has taken place and no public service will be held at this time.

CHERRYVALE — Forrest Dark Strickland, age 85, of Cherryvale died Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence.

 

Celebration of life memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, at the First Baptist Church in Cherryvale with the Rev. Jeff McCullough officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale.

TYRO — Thomas “Tom” Edward Mackey, age 60, of rural Tyro died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville,

Okla.

 

Celebration of life memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, at the Potts Chapel in Caney with the Pastor Mike Morris officiating.

 

The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney.

 

Harriette Ann Wade

INDEPENDENCE — Harriette Ann Wade, age 86, of Independence died Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Mercy Hospital in Independence.

 

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, July 3, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale. Burial followed in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence.

 

Potts Chapel in Independence handled the funeral and burial arrangements.

COFFEYVILLE — Sandy L. Alexander, age 73, of Coffeyville died Friday, June 29, 2012 at Windsor Place.

 

Following her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating Sandy’s life was held Tuesday, July 3, at the First Baptist Church of Coffeyville under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

COFFEYVILLE — Ronald Bruce Boley, age 63, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at home.

 

Graveside service were held Saturday, June 30, at Restlawn Memorial Park. Military honors were conducted by the U.S Army Honor Guard of Fort Riley.

PITTSBURG — Max Macario “Wheels” Reese, infant son of Matt and Sarah Reese of Pittsburg, Kan., died Wednesday afternoon, June 27, 2012, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

 

Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville on Tuesday, July 3. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.

CHERRYVALE — Former Cherryvale resident Yvonne Hornback, age 86, of Parsons died Saturday morning, June 30, 2012, in the emergency room of Labette Health.  Death was unexpected.

 

A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.  Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery northeast of Cherryvale.

 

Memorials are suggested to either the Mount Zion Church or the Cherryvale United Methodist Church.  They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS  67357.

 

 

Fern Morrow Wood

CHERRYVALE — Fern Morrow Wood, age 89, a long-time resident of Cherryvale, died peacefully on Friday, June 29, 2012, at her residence of the past three years, Andover Court in Andover, Kan.

 

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale. A celebration of her life will occur at the United Methodist Church in Cherryvale at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale.

Alan Clair Edwin Glines

INDEPENDENCE — Alan Clair Edwin Glines, age 69, of Independence died Tuesday afternoon, July 3, 2012.

 

He authored an autobiography, “A Kansan Conquers the Cosmos, or Spaced Out All My Life” detailing his early upbringing in Independence,his love of the theater sparked by his leading roles in high school and summer theater productions, and his long career as a NASA rocket scientist.

 

Funeral arrangements are with the Penwell-Gabel mortuary in Independence. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to his memory at the Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson and can be left at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 6, at 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral will be at the Penwell Gabel Chapel on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, with the Rev. John P. Wilson of the Presbyterian Church, Independence, presiding.
