Country music artist Kinsey Sadler to perform in Caney

The Southeast Kansas Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers continues its preparations for a fundraising concert featuring Nashville recording artist Kinsey Sadler.

The event will be held Friday, March 16, at Caney’s Short Creek on the Border.  Sadler will be joined by the Jody Schmidt Band from Bartlesville.  The concert will begin at 8 p.m.

Ticket sales are underway.  Advance purchase tickets are available at The Gunny Sack in Caney and at Community National Bank in Caney and Cherryvale.  Those who buy their tickets before the show will receive a discount.  Tickets will be $10.  Those buying tickets the night of the concert will be able to purchase them for $12.  All proceeds benefit the Blue Star Mothers.

“For those not familiar with our mission, we are the mothers, fathers, families and friends of service members and veterans.  We volunteer tirelessly to make sure those protecting our freedom have what they need and are aware that they are always in our thoughts.  We ship 40-50 boxes each month to those serving around the world.  The care packages include things such as snack items, toiletry items, new socks and a lot of love,” said Becky Wheatley, president of the SEK Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers.

The evening’s festivities will include great music, a silent auction, drawings and recognition of those who have served.

“We also want to honor our area’s veterans on this special evening.  There are so many great men and women in southeast Kansas who have given of themselves for our country and we want to recognize their service.  We will also be offering them free admission to the concert,” said Wheatley.

Kinsey Sadler recently signed with Evergreen Records in Nashville and has spent the past week in the studio recording songs for a new CD.  She anticipates her national tour could begin early this summer, but before that, she wanted to use her talents to support a cause near and dear to her heart.

“I really can’t do enough for these moms.  My father served in the military and I am so proud of his service.  My support of the Blue Star Mothers is a way for me to say thank you to my dad and to all the others who also serve,” said Kinsey Sadler.

The concert from Caney will be streamed live to all the troops serving overseas.  Juke Zoo will provide the web-cast and will give those attending the concert an opportunity to send a message to their friends and family members who are deployed.

“We are thrilled to be able to work with Juke Zoo on this live feed.  To be able to raise money for our efforts while providing a connection to home and some great entertainment to those on the other side of the world is awesome.  It is our hope that hundreds of people will come out and show all those serving how much support they have from Southeast Kansas,” said Wheatley.

Cash donations are also welcomed.  The Blue Star Mothers is a 501c3 non-profit organization, so donations are tax deductible.  Gifts may be mailed to:  SEK Blue Star Mothers, PO Box 314, Caney, KS 67333.
