COFFEYVILLE — A 28-year-old Coffeyville man was killed after being struck by a motorist on a county road north of Coffeyville on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Sheriff Robert Dierks said Kelly Testerman, age 28, was killed when he was struck while laying on the roadway at county road 4500 northwest of Coffeyville. Dierks said Testerman was at a social gathering at a residence on county road 4500 when he decided to walk away shortly before night. He reportedly was laying on the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle.
Dierks said darkness, as well as alcohol, may have played a role in the fatality.
Dierks indicated that an investigation was continuing but that added that foul play was not suspected and that the incident appears to be a “tragic accident.” Dierks indicated that driver of the vehicle was not at fault for striking Testerman in the roadway.
“This was a horrible accident and on behalf of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, we extend our thoughts and prayers to the Kelly Testerman family and to the driver of the vehicle involved,” said Dierks.
